Men’s small group meets Saturday morning

All men are welcome to join us tomorrow from 8:00 - 9:30am at James’ house, 29 Kohekohe St, New Lynn - Ph:827-2313. Bring your Bible.

Greg Laurie OUTREACH EVENTS

This huge weekend of outreach kicks of at the Vector Arena in just over 24 hours - there’s still time to invite people, still time to pray, still time to organize yourself to be there. We have a great group of people helping with all sorts of things - guys setting up on Saturday morning, heaps of people involved as ushers and counselors and follow up workers, a phone team for Monday night, Start people for ongoing discipleship - well done BBCC!

If you’re a parent of one of our youth group do you best to encourage your kids to come along. They’ll be encouraged to see God at work and this event could be a highlight of their spiritual growth. On Saturday night I have a few spaces left in my van leaving BBCC at 4.30pm or you can meet us at the train stations - train leaves New Lynn at 4:53, Avondale station at 4:57, and Mt Albert at 5:00pm - Britomart at 5.30pm.

NEXT YOUTH EVENT

Our next youth event is Laser Skirmish at BBCC on Friday, 8th July from 7.30 - 10.30pm. This is full on Laser Tag in our building and it’ll be a blast! Cost is only $10 for 3 hours of fun and you have to book and pay by Sunday 3rd July - after that date (numbers permitting) we’re opening it up to adults (the oldies:) who want to come and have a blast too. So far numbers are growing steadily with approx 20 signed up - it’s going to be a cool night.

Youth director position @ BBCC

Adverts continue in the Challenge newspaper this week so please pray for the right person to be found to minister to our wonderful young people.

NEW CHINESE MINISTRY STARTS AT BBCC

In my Pastor’s report presented at this years AGM I mentioned my desire to reach out more effectively to the Chinese community and you may have noticed that we have a few more Chinese people coming to church these days. Mary Davie-Martin also runs a English language class which is attracting mainly Chinese people and we are blessed to have Pastor Eddy & Loretta Chan, former Senior Pastor at the Chinese Alliance Christian Church in Pakuranga who has agreed to help us with our outreach to the Chinese community. We will be starting a new ministry on Sunday, 3rd July from 12.30-2.30pm - which will provide lunch and an opportunity to share more about Jesus. We plan to meet once a month on the first Sunday of each month and if you’d like to be part of this ministry please sign up at the info Kiosk on Sunday, or talk to Pastor Eddy or myself.

BUILDING RENOVATION UPDATE

It’s still a waiting game…..hopefully more to report next week.

And finally, a few words about SUNDAY

The service starts at 10.30am but it’s a great idea to arrive early so you can join the prayer meeting at 10:10am, or talk to the kids and young people hanging out in Kidz Quest, welcome visitors (they’re always on time), get your children settled, and get your mind and heart in the right space for worship. We have some great music videos playing from 10:15 in the auditorium and the atmosphere of the service really lifts if we’re all ready to start worshipping together at 10.30.

After the service there’s lots happening to get involved with. The Prayer Ministry team (which includes the Elder’s) are available to talk and pray with people after the service and if you need prayer just come to the front and sit down, and we’ll come and join you. If you’re not coming forward for pray, we’d encourage you to head out to the lounge for a drink. This allows the prayer ministry time to happen without too much noise and the “coffee time” helps build relationships and provides a setting for some great conversations.

I can’t wait for the renovations to be done so we’ll have an extended lounge area with a central kitchen and a better space for fellowship after the service...but I’ll just have to be patient.

Bless ya - see ya Sunday (and maybe Saturday too)
